How to set child issues for the existing parent issue temporarily with Hierarchy

This feature will let our users update the existing issues with new child issues using the Hierarchies. To implement it you should simply go to the ‘Apply Hierarchy' dialog of the 'Templates’ menu.

In the opened up ‘Apply Hierarchy’ dialog, select a Hierarchy you want to use and click the ‘Set Issue' button of the specific node.

As you can see, the ‘Set Issue’ button is only available for parent issues that have the children issues.

The ‘Select Issue’ dropdown becomes active in the ‘Summary’ column of the selected node as shown on the screenshot below.

Choose the issue you want to link the children issues to and click the ‘Ready’ button to the right in the following node row.

As the ‘Set Issue’ function is temporary you’ll be able to see the ‘Hierarchy has temporary changes’ notification placed at the footer of the ‘Apply Hierarchy’ dialog.

If needed you can discard the issue setting with the ‘Remove Issue’ button displayed in the node row.

To proceed the child issues creation click the ‘Apply’ button located at the footer of the ‘Apply Hierarchy’ dialog.

Confirm this action by clicking the ‘Confirm’ button on the ‘Confirmation’ dialog.

You’ll see the created issues on the next page as shown on the screenshot below. The setted Epic contains the child issues linked to it. The Epic is not created with the following actions but is displayed to make the applying process more clear.

At the bottom left corner of the window you will see a 'Help' button which will navigate you to the following section of the Smart Issue Templates user-guide.

The same ‘Set Issue’ function is available on the ‘Manage Hierarchies’ and on the view hierarchy pages. You can read more about it via link.
